Writing
intervals with accidentals
When writing an interval above or below a given note,
follow this procedure:
Step
1
Write the second notehead on
the correct line or space to create the correct number size (4th,
6th, etc.).
Step
2
Identify the size of this interval
according to the procedure of the previous topic, "Identifying
intervals with accidentals."
Step
3
Add accidentals to the added
notehead as needed to adjust the size of the interval to create
the requested interval quality. Remember: DO NOT change the original
note that was given. Always adjust the note you added.
