Preliminary
Project
Creative Projects A-D will require you to
submit, via e-mail or other method as requested by your instructor,
music examples that you compose. In order to
do so, you will input your music using Finale NotePad, a free,
downloadable software application.
The purpose of this project is to give you
experience at working with music notation software, specifically
Finale NotePad. The navigation button "Finale Tutor" (found
at the top of each page in this course), will link you to a page
that contains a simple introduction to the basics of Finale NotePad.
I suggest you investigate that page before attempting to complete
this project. If needed, detailed tutorials as to how to use Finale
NotePad can be accessed within Finale NotePad itself under the Help
Menu.. These are PDF files that can be read and/or printed.
For this project, you will recreate three
music examples--a rhythm, a melody and a score--in Finale NotePad.
Each example includes directions (as boxed text) and illustrations
of some Finale NotePad tools. If you run into a stumbling block,
revisit the Finale Tutor or access the Help Menu within Finale NotePad
for solutions to your problem.
