History of Brigham Young Women’s LAX
BYU Women’s LAX was established in 1994 and has been competing without break in US Lacrosse’s Women’s Division Intercollegiate Associates (WDIA) and Rocky Mountain Women’s Lacrosse League (RMWLL). Our record over the past 8 years is an amazing 140-27. With the work of several dedicated coaches in the past including Soni Bartlett, Amber (& Dan) Christensen, Kristy Quiggles, Ashley Lower, and Mackenzie Harding this has been a successful progam; providing the opportunity of playing lacrosse at a college level and developing lasting friendships for hundreds of BYU women. Currently coaches are Julie Smith and Oriah Harding, Chris Olinick.
Explanation of the Team’s Affiliation with BYU
We are not a BYU club team. Brigham Young University does not recognize the women’s lacrosse as an official BYU club team. Regardless, USL-WDIA rules require that all players on a team must currently attend the same university in order for the team to be eligible for official league play and the National Tournament. We are recognized by the USL-WDIA as Brigham Young Women’s Club team in order to enjoy the privileges associated with the USL-WDIA. As such every player on our team currently attends Brigham Young University. The BYU name is only used by the USL- WDIA for aforementioned eligiblity reasons. Again we would like to reinforce that we are NOT currently recognized by BYU and do not use the University name or trademark in association with our team.
